Bushfire Convergence

It’s fair to say our brains were sufficiently fried by this stage 😵‍💫

David Holmgren (co-originator of permaculture) and his wife Su Dennett were lively contributors to last week’s Northern Rivers Bushfire Convergence in Mullumbimby, organised by Renew Fest.

This was Day 2 where we’d been think-tanking hard in synthesis of the previous day’s insights. This involved 40+ emergency services, government and community orgs, debriefing the 2019/20 Black Summer fires in the region.

David has written and shared important insights on bushfire resilient design. It’s an edgy topic that must be talked about. The most beautiful aspect was seeing David and Oliver from Firesticks Alliance going deep in the possibility space of cultural burns and community fire management. It’s actually really exciting, for us in a country shaped by fire - if we can rally the broader systems and networks in collaboration.

I’m so grateful contribute my facilitation skills to host the conversations - pretty much broad-scale permaculture in action - with these potent humans for the day.
