Sociocracy at AUS Permaculture Convergence 2021

Sitting under a Melaleuca paperbark tree in a group of 40 people to explore collaborative & shared leadership via sociocracy sounds like visionary fiction describing desired future times. Yet, this is exactly what happened at the recent Australasian Permaculture Convergence on Quandamooka Country, south east of Brisbane, in mid April.

As a knowledge keeper of the ways of sociocracy, I am compelled to share its permaculture aligned practices at gatherings of permies like this one pictured. It’s an honour for me to share these collaborative codes. Permies are designers of living systems, and they appreciate how sociocracy provides adaptability & responsiveness for getting stuff done in our human’ing.

The links between #sociocracy and #permaculture are clear: the circles and round of sociocracy embrace patterns to details, integrate rather than segregate, obtain a yield, creatively use and respond to change, apply self regulation and accept feedback… the list goes on.

My heart burns for more people to truly realise how effective and creative humans can be together when we use patterns that meet our dynamic complexity and holistic intelligence. The seeds are being cast; may the gardens of productive, healthy, functional humans creating potent change for a better world flourish.

I am hosting a Foundations of Sociocracy in-person weekend course at Crystal Waters Eco Village on 25-27 June 2021. And a six-week online equivalent is happening from 1 July. If you know it’s time your organisation get it’s collaborative and responsive act together through these opportunities, DM me and I’ll share details.
